New Business Development Manager

Further to my letter of last month, I am delighted to announce the addition of Jimmy Scullion to the IRIS OPSIS team. Jimmy will be your new Business Development Manager, based in Ireland effective immediately.

Formerly Head of Sales with Royal Mail Group in Northern Ireland and prior to that Sales Director with UK Serviced Office Group Regus Plc, Jimmy has an enormous amount of client management experience and enthusiasm. 

His immediate goal is to ensure that you are looked after locally and that you have access to current support and training as well as introducing new product innovations from the wider IRIS Legal group where appropriate.

Further Product Investments

Building on many years of OPSIS and IRIS Legal knowledge we are currently investing circa £10m creating a next generation product for solicitors.  This new product takes the previous OPSIS investments in “drawbridge” along with heavy investment in IRIS Law (Business) to another level and puts clients at the heart of the law firm.  As you will be aware, your clients are becoming more demanding, particularly in terms of transparency of billing and around the clock access to case information.  We are therefore focussing our products on addressing their needs in order that you can meet and exceed their expectations and gain a competitive advantage, not to mention repeat business.

Customer Support

There are a couple of ways in which you can contact our support team; these include a dedicated phone line 02890 653006 (NI) and 01 294 2903 (ROI) and also via email at legal.helpdesk@iris.co.uk.  It is also worth mentioning that OPSIS clients can now also benefit from our extended opening hours of 8.30am to 6.00pm you should be able to make us aware of a problem even during the busiest times. 

Client Portal

We have recently launched our new online Client Portal which is going from strength to strength.  This community area now has over 1000 users who are taking advantage of the information and self help that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are not yet a member, please email legalportaladmin@IRIS.co.uk and register so that you can take advantage of the following facilities; 

• Searchable knowledge base by product– search the IRIS Legal knowledge base and find answers quickly to many common support questions for your IRIS product
• Frequently Asked Questions – gain instant access to valuable information covering a range of popular topics with our FAQ library
• Information on current issues such as the VAT rate change, user guides, release notes and roadmap information
• Information bulletins, training schedules and support documentation such as service level agreements, hints & tips
• Contact details – for support, account manager etc

We are pleased to announce that our new blog is now online for all the latest News, and information related to various OPSIS events.

You can either view the OPSIS News & Info Blog online, or you can subscribe to its "RSS Feed" in your own blog newsreader software, which will automatically feed the latest news articles to your newsreader (see more instructions below).

The blog has been created to provide a central resource for the various announcements that OPSIS makes from time to time, and provides links to the relevant regional OPSIS web site, or other external partner and third-party resources.

Subscribing to the Blog

What is RSS?

RSS is a quick and convenient way of keeping in touch with OPSIS news and updates. It stands for Really Simple Syndication, and is content that can be read by special "feed" reading software or a web service you can use from your web browser.

What is the difference between RSS and Internet browsing?

With normal Internet browsing you have to remember to re-visit a website, or blog page to see what's new. Whereas RSS will automatically gather the latest news from any number of news feeds you are interested in, and display their headlines in one convenient place for you to read - without having to visit each website in turn.

Simply put the address of OPSIS's web feed into your reader, and it will display the latest news headlines, each one with a synopsis and link that will take you to the full story.

How to Subscribe

You can subscribe to the OPSIS RSS Feed as follows:

You will need a News Reader or other similar software. One such reader is "RSS Reader", available at www.rssreader.com. There are many others such as Windows My Live, My Yahoo, Bloglines, Newsgator, Netvibes, or one of a variety of other popular newsreaders.

The RSS Feed URL to use in your blog newsreader software is:-

http://www.opsisltd.info/wordpress/feed/

Click on the orange RSS button – this will open a page listing the current items in the feed.

Copy and paste the web address (URL) of that page into your News Reader – usually done in the "add new feed" or "subscribe to new feed" box.

Once subscribed, whenever we create a news topic, your newsreader will show you the latest post(s). The screenshot below shows Windows Live displaying the latest posts from the blog.

The blog provides a number of useful features too.

For example:-

• It will provide Printer-Friendly pages for printing off articles
• Allows you to Email an article you think would be interesting or useful to a friend
• Has a comprehensive Search facility
• Uses Categories and keyword Tags for related topics
• Provides Links to various other industry related resources
• Allows you to add your own Comments on articles we have posted to promote discussion with other visitors to the blog.
